Practitioner FAQs

Energy 4 Life Practitioner FAQs

For health professionals considering the Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS): how the scan works, the evidence, fitting it into your practice, what your clients get, cost, and getting started.

About the Bioenergetic Wellness System

What is the Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS)?

The Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS) is cloud-based assessment software that health practitioners use to read a client's energy, usually from a short voice recording. Made by Energy 4 Life (E4L), a bioenergetic health company founded by Harry Massey, it shows where the body's energy system most needs support and recommends Infoceuticals, drops of minerals imprinted with information, to support it.

BWS is Energy 4 Life's most comprehensive energy assessment, with screens covering the body's energy system in detail (see "What does BWS assess?"). Practitioners use it in person or online, on its own or alongside the other services they offer. A BWS scan is an energetic assessment, not a medical diagnosis.

What does BWS assess?

The Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS) assesses the body's energy system rather than its chemistry: how well each part of the body is powered, how well it communicates, and how well its corrective messages are working. Instead of testing "the liver", for example, it tests the Liver Driver (the energy powering the liver), the Liver Integrator (how well the liver communicates within itself and with the rest of the body), and the Energetic Terrains linked to the liver (its corrective messages).

These terms come from the map of the body-field, the body's energy control system, that Peter Fraser began and Energy 4 Life has developed since the early 2000s. The Integrators correspond closely to the meridians of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). BWS also has screens for the mind-body connection and emotions, for environment and nutrition, and more, plus screens for animals. Nutrition and lifestyle remain important partners; BWS adds the energy and information side.

How does a bioenergetic scan with BWS work?

A BWS scan captures information about the body's energy field, usually through a short voice recording, and checks it against energy signatures that Energy 4 Life has matched to healthy cells, tissues, and systems. The software then shows which areas of the body's energy system most need support, in priority order, and recommends Infoceuticals to support them.

In Energy 4 Life's model, every part of the body gives off a field with its own energy signature: the unique pattern formed by the collective frequencies in that cell or tissue. These frequencies interact with the voice as it's being produced (also with the collective field generated by the body), imprinting information onto the sound waves of the voice, like the modulation of a radio wave that can be read by a radio. BWS software analyzes these imprints against its priority algorithm, repeating the experiment dozens of times to weed out noise, looking for expected patterns vs deviations. It flags items with the most deviations in a test, highlighting areas most in need of support at the time of the scan.

How long does a BWS scan take?

A BWS voice scan takes about 10 seconds. When clients scan themselves in the GEM app, Energy 4 Life's phone app, they also take a photo of the tongue, and later the face, so an app scan takes about 30-60 seconds and adds complementary data to the body-field assessment.

Because the scan itself is so quick, most of a practitioner's session time with a client goes into what you do with the results: a short check-in, a full consultation, or anything in between (see "How do I use BWS in my practice?").

What equipment do I need to run BWS?

BWS is cloud-based, so there is no software to install and no special hardware (beyond built-in microphones and cameras on a phone or computer) for a voice scan.

Who can use BWS, and do I need a health license?

BWS is used by a wide range of health and wellness professionals, from massage therapists, chiropractors, and nutritional counselors to certified bioenergetic coaches. You don't need a health license. People without other health credentials complete Energy 4 Life's bioenergetic health coaching program as part of their certification; licensed professionals can also access this course, as it's included with a BWS license.

Either way, you need a BWS license to use the system, and certification training is included (see "What does BWS training and certification involve?"). Licensed professionals add BWS to the practice they already run and work within their own professional scope (see "Can I use bioenergetic scans within my scope of practice?"), while new practitioners can use the system as a primary service alongside general health coaching, subject to local regulations.

How is BWS different from bioresonance, biofeedback, and other bioenergetic scanners?

Most bioenergetic assessments are electrical: they pass a small current through the skin or test points with a probe. BWS is field-based: it reads the body's energy state from the voice, without passing current through the body, so the reading doesn't depend on a practitioner's technique or a client keeping still.

The main types work like this:

  • Electrodermal screening (EDS), including EAV, tests meridian points on the hands and feet with a probe. It's a long-established technique, but it takes time and depends heavily on the practitioner's skill. It is also limited to reading only the body's meridian system.
  • Galvanic skin response (GSR), a form of biofeedback, sends a weak current across the skin and reads changes as stress responses. It's quicker than EDS, but in Energy 4 Life's tests of one popular device, movement affected the results (see "Can the client or practitioner affect a BWS reading?").
  • Gas discharge visualization (GDV) photographs a glow around the fingertips. It's fairly repeatable, but skin moisture, humidity, and pressure affect it, and it focuses only on organs or the body's meridian system.
  • Bioresonance sends frequencies into the body and looks for a response. It shares BWS's idea of testing for resonance, but in Energy 4 Life's view, single frequencies are too simple to tell every part of the body apart. This is why BWS looks for complex frequency patterns.

Evidence, scope, and trust

What is BWS based on, and what evidence supports it?

BWS is based on the map of the body-field, the body's energy control system, that Peter Fraser began and Energy 4 Life has developed since the early 2000s. Studies have looked at both the scan and the products it recommends: examples include a comparison study of the company's earlier practitioner scanner in India; an analysis of its scan data from about 6,000 people; and laboratory research on Infoceuticals by Professor Hemal Patel's team at UC San Diego.

Professor Patel's team began its work in 2021, with first results shared in 2022 and a peer-reviewed study in the journal EXPLORE in 2025. The science FAQ page describes each study (see "What other studies have been done on Energy 4 Life's technology?"). Wearable data now adds a conventional viewpoint to the overall assessment, offering an even more complete look: when clients choose to share data from a wearable, practitioners are able to view this alongside BWS's body-field assessment (see "Can I see my clients' wearable data in BWS?").

Can the client or practitioner affect a BWS reading?

Not accidentally through things like movement or technique. A BWS scan doesn't pass current through the skin or use a probe, so a client's movement or a practitioner's technique can't change the reading. Background noise is the one thing to control: voice scans prefer a quiet room for optimal results.

That sets BWS apart from electrical assessments: in Energy 4 Life's own tests of one popular galvanic skin response device, slight finger movements registered as stress responses. What practitioners bring to a BWS scan is interpretation, and Energy 4 Life's training shows them how to read results and share them with clients.

Is BWS FDA-cleared or a medical device?

No, BWS is not FDA-cleared and is not a medical device. It is an energetic assessment: it reads the body's energy and shows where it needs support at that level, and it makes no medical claims. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

Practitioners present BWS results as an energetic assessment, not a medical finding, and their work goes alongside medical care, never in place of it (see "Can I use bioenergetic scans within my scope of practice?"). For how a bioenergetic assessment differs from a medical diagnosis, see "Is a bioenergetic assessment a medical diagnosis?" on the science FAQ page.

Does BWS test for diseases, pathogens, toxins, or nutrient deficiencies?

No. BWS does not test for any disease, and its results don't show that a pathogen, toxin, or nutrient deficiency is physically present. It reads the state of the body's energy system. A result on the Environment or Nutrition screen shows the body-field's response to an item, like a stress response to a toxin signal, or imbalance in relation to amount or use of a nutrient.

Energetic Terrains, the body's information pathways for keeping certain tissues healthy, can relate indirectly to pathogens (i.e., what pathways tend to be most susceptible to certain pathogens), but a priority reading never claims a pathogen is present. Energy 4 Life recommends avoiding any assessment that claims to detect diseases or pathogens, because such claims describe the physical body rather than its energy system. E4L training covers how to properly share these readings with clients.

Can I use bioenergetic scans within my scope of practice?

BWS is an energetic assessment, not a medical diagnosis, so it can fit within a wide range of health and wellness practices, as long as you present it that way. You remain responsible for working within your own license or certification: BWS results describe where the body's energy needs support, not the presence of any disease.

Energy 4 Life's training shows practitioners how to read results and share them with clients appropriately (see "Does BWS test for diseases, pathogens, toxins, or nutrient deficiencies?"). If a result raises something a client should discuss with their doctor, refer them; bioenergetics works alongside medical care, never in place of it. Check your own professional board's rules on wellness assessments.

How do I explain a bioenergetic scan to my clients?

Explain a BWS scan as a reading of the body's energy, not its chemistry. It shows where the body's energy system needs support, and in what order, and it is not a medical diagnosis. One simple comparison: the body runs on an operating system, like a phone, and the scan checks the software – how well each area is powered and communicating – not the hardware.

BWS's built-in AI tool helps you put results into plain language at whatever level suits each client (see "Does BWS use artificial intelligence (AI)?"). You choose which result screens clients see, and when (see "Can my clients see their own BWS scan results?"). Clients who share wearable data also see their scan alongside that data, which gives many people a useful point of reference.

Are there testimonials from practitioners and clients?

Energy 4 Life has collected testimonials from clients and practitioners since its public work began in 2003. Many of those stories are gathered at https://testimonials.e4l.com, where people are also invited to share their own. Each is one person's experience, not a promised result.

Using BWS in your practice

How do I use BWS in my practice?

The Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS) can stand alone as a health tool or complement other modalities, and it can help those modalities reach positive outcomes more quickly. It can be used in several ways to fit the needs of each practice. For instance:

  • You can scan someone in about 10 seconds, see right away which Infoceuticals are recommended, and move on to the other services you provide.
  • You can build whole consultations around BWS scan results, looking at emotional and energy-based root causes as well as lifestyle topics.
  • You can automate client scanning and support clients through group coaching, or have a staff member run one-on-one consultations that don't require your time.
  • You can weave it into the services you already offer in ways that suit your work, such as reviewing nutrition screens alongside a traditional nutritional counseling session.

Energy 4 Life's team can talk with you about your specific practice and how BWS can help it grow.

What if I don't have time to add BWS to my practice?

The basics of using BWS can be learned in under two hours. A staff member can also train to use it on your behalf, or you can automate the scanning process and guide clients through group coaching, which turns a little of your time into support for many clients.

The built-in AI tool also helps you understand and share scan results quickly. And because BWS offers energetic insights and solutions that can speed up the results your clients are getting, you may find it saves you time and builds word-of-mouth referrals.

Can I work with clients remotely?

Yes. BWS is cloud-based, so you can scan and consult with clients wherever they are, and many practitioners work online as well as in person. Clients can also opt to share any wearable data with you that's been collected through the GEM app, allowing you to see this alongside BWS results.

Intake and follow-up forms, client notes, and the client shop with drop shipping all work online as well.

Does BWS use artificial intelligence (AI)?

The Bioenergetic Wellness System (BWS) assessment itself does not use artificial intelligence (AI). Energy 4 Life provides a built-in AI tool that helps practitioners understand and discuss scan results more quickly. It helps them see complex energetic patterns and explain them in terms clients can understand.

Like other AI tools, it can speak in whatever tone and at whatever level is requested, and it can help practitioners write bioenergetic content for their newsletter, website, and more. Energy 4 Life continues to look for ways to use AI to find more patterns and give practitioners deeper insights.

What your clients get

What is the difference between BWS and the GEM app?

BWS is Energy 4 Life's assessment software for practitioners; the GEM app is its phone app for the public. Both read the body's energy based on the same underlying principles, but BWS goes deeper on the details provided in its results. The GEM app gives clients a higher level overview, coupled with their wearable data, and an AI coach to offer support and answer questions between visits with their practitioner.

By combining both together, you're able to provide a level of service not available to the general public, while the app provides deeper value to clients and minimizes the number of questions they may have for you.

Can my clients use the GEM app between sessions?

Yes. Active clients of Energy 4 Life practitioners get free access to a Member subscription to the GEM app, Energy 4 Life's phone app; this is normally a paid tier, and it includes scanning and the AI Health Coach. This enables them to scan before appointments with you, get answers about lifestyle questions or bioenergetics, and get more familiar with what you are doing for them and why within Energy 4 Life's physics-first model of health (learn more on the Science FAQs page).

The app's scan adds complementary data to what BWS shows (see "What is the difference between BWS and the GEM app?") when participating clients connect it to a wearable. (See "Can I see my clients' wearable data in BWS?".) The protect features, which run on the GEM wearable, a device worn on the wrist, still need a paid GEM account for them to access (see "What does 'detect, correct, and protect' mean?" on the company FAQ page).

Can I see my clients' wearable data in BWS?

Yes, when clients choose to share it. Clients who connect a wearable to the GEM app, Energy 4 Life's phone app, can share its data with their practitioner, and it then appears in BWS alongside their scan results. That adds conventional measurements to the energetic picture, further assisting clinicians in forming a whole picture of best steps to help their clients.

The GEM app reads data from other wearables, not only Energy 4 Life's own GEM wearable. Clients without a wearable still benefit, because their app scans still add tongue (and later face) analysis to the underlying BWS scan.

Can my clients see their own BWS scan results?

Only if you choose. BWS gives practitioners full control over which result screens clients see, if any, and when: right away, or only after a paid consultation. You can also show different screens before and after a consultation, for example a few results right away as a sample, and the full picture once you've talked it through.

Clients who use the GEM app see their own app scan results, while their BWS results stay under your control. Sample scanning and free client resources can also help you attract new clients (see "How do I get clients for a bioenergetic practice?").

How does BWS choose Infoceuticals for a client?

After a scan, BWS recommends Infoceuticals that match the client's top priorities, the areas of the body's energy system most in need of support. Infoceuticals are drops of minerals imprinted with information, made by Energy 4 Life. The Recommendations screen shows the top five, and practitioners typically recommend up to five or six from the full range of about 80.

Infoceuticals match the parts of the body-field that BWS assesses: Drivers support energy levels, Integrators and Terrains support the integrity of the body's information processing, Mind-Body Infoceuticals support the clearing of emotional blocks (see "What does BWS assess?"), and Energetic Stars support more nuanced energy pathways. Practitioners can use their training and judgment to fine-tune a protocol, and new scans show how priorities shift over time.

What kinds of results can my clients expect?

Results vary from person to person: some clients notice changes within hours or days, such as more energy or better sleep, while others make gradual progress over several protocols of Infoceuticals, drops of minerals imprinted with information.

Infoceuticals are designed to amplify optimal signaling in the body, supporting the body's natural health and healing processes. Energy 4 Life does not claim to target any specific disease or medical condition; its products support good health. Because they work with the body's own processes, and the body has a remarkable ability to restore itself, results can vary widely and can be profound.

Sometimes results show up as improvements in physical symptoms, sometimes as more energy or better sleep, and sometimes they are emotional. The body is complex, with many crossing channels, so improvement can take many routes.

Some people are in tune with their bodies and notice subtle changes quickly. Others overlook bigger changes, even while the people around them notice. Energy 4 Life encourages clients to pay attention to what's happening as they go through the process.

The success of any health approach depends partly on compliance, mindset, lifestyle, environment, and more. Bioenergetics is no different, except that it takes a holistic approach that goes beyond supporting the physical body: because it supports the body's energy system, it provides lifestyle insights and helps clear the energetic impact of emotions that can keep someone stuck in a past mindset that no longer serves them.

Cost and licensing

How much does BWS cost?

Energy 4 Life doesn't publish BWS prices; it discusses BWS pricing and wholesale product pricing directly with health professionals and coaches, because the right option depends on the practice. Energy 4 Life would much rather you succeed with its products, so it provides the training and support you need to make them work for you.

What support do I get after I buy BWS?

BWS comes with training and ongoing support. You start with Quick Start Lessons of under two hours and go on to full certification training. After that, you keep access to live and recorded training events, in-depth business courses, a private social network group of experienced practitioners, and Energy 4 Life's support team at https://help.e4l.com.

The business courses cover business basics, marketing, mindset, and selling, with free and low-cost resources you can put to use (see "How do I get clients for a bioenergetic practice?"). The built-in AI tool helps you read results and create content day to day.

Growing your practice

How much do practitioners charge for a bioenergetic consultation?

Energy 4 Life practitioners set their own fees. In the US, a typical 60-90 minute first bioenergetic consultation often costs $150-300 or more, and shorter follow-up appointments may cost less. The right fee depends on your experience and qualifications, how much time you spend with someone, and what other services you include. Product sales come on top of that, or you can bundle them into your fees.

Energy 4 Life encourages practitioners to value their time and not undercharge, and to offer packages that cover three to six months. That gives clients time for real progress, can improve success rates and word of mouth, and builds a more stable practice.

How do wholesale pricing and drop shipping work for Infoceuticals?

Practitioners buy Infoceuticals at wholesale discounts off retail prices, both on drop-shipped orders and on bulk orders, so they can run healthy, profitable businesses while helping their clients. You don't need to stock any product: Energy 4 Life can drop ship to your clients for you, from the United States, Europe, and Australia. Energy 4 Life talks through the numbers with qualified professionals who are considering BWS for their practice.

If you prefer to keep product on hand for clients you see in person, bulk orders are available. There are about 80 Infoceuticals in the range, and you would likely keep several bottles of each, depending on how many clients you see, so you don't have to reorder too often.

How do I get clients for a bioenergetic practice?

Energy 4 Life gives all its practitioners business courses on business basics, marketing, mindset, and selling. The lessons show you which avenues to take, along with free and low-cost resources you can use.

BWS also lists active license holders on the practitioner finder, so people looking for an Energy 4 Life practitioner can find you. It gives you lead magnets (valuable free resources) to attract new clients, sample scanning, and more.
