The Proof · Evidence base & data moat

A cell has no placebo.

The credibility strategy is simple: go via the universities. Lead with the published, peer-reviewed work — where living cells, which cannot believe or expect, still responded — then label the human pilot honestly, and show the data asset that makes the platform defensible.

Biology sits inside chemistry, and chemistry sits inside physics. This decade the frontier of health moves down that stack, from molecules to the body's energy and information. E4L's bet is to map that layer first and build products from it — and the evidence below is where the physics-first thesis meets data.

Three tiers of evidence, ascending — molecule and cell, then people, then the 26-year data set behind FIELD. Each figure below is shown with the design that produced it and its caveat. These are wellbeing and structure/function measures — stress markers, gene expression, self-reported energy and mood — not disease endpoints.

Tier 01 · Published & peer-reviewed

The strongest evidence we have is also the hardest to argue with.

A blinded, controlled study of living heart cells (H9c2), conducted by researchers at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and peer-reviewed and published in the journal EXPLORE (2025). Cells treated with the infoceutical input — energized structured water — held up better under an oxidative challenge than untreated cells.

This is the point of leading here: a cell has no expectation and no belief. There is no placebo effect to explain the result away. What the cells did, they did on biology alone.

"A cell has no mind. It can't believe. There's no placebo to hide behind." — Prof. Hemal Patel, PhD, UCSD; scientific advisor to E4L, on why cell studies are hard to argue with.

Reported effects were on mitochondrial function, cellular energy and oxidative-stress markers — how cells make and defend their energy. Structure/function biology, not a treatment claim.

37%

Less oxidative stress (reduced ROS) in treated cells vs untreated, under an H₂O₂ challenge.

EXPLORE, 2025 · blinded H9c2 cell study
1,139

Genes with altered expression (717 up / 422 down) — a broad biological response, not a single marker.

EXPLORE, 2025 · gene-expression analysis

Also reported: higher mitochondrial maximal & spare respiratory capacity and increased glycolytic ATP. Figures approximate; see the published paper for full methods and values.

Peer-reviewed, published (Tier 1). A cellular study; it demonstrates a biological effect on energy and oxidative-stress markers — it is not a clinical outcome in people and makes no disease claim.

Tier 02 · Human pilot

What happened when people wore it for 60 days.

A 60-day pilot of the GEM wearable in 20 participants (Versea Health, 2025) tracked self-reported wellbeing and a mitochondrial marker. Participants reported meaningfully lower anxiety and fatigue over the two months.

We show this because it points the same way as the cell work — but we label it honestly. It is an early signal from real people, not proof.

The caveat, stated plainly

Observational, no control group. With no control arm and a small sample, these results are directional, not definitive — they cannot establish cause. A properly controlled study is in the funded R&D plan (see the pipeline below).

The R&D line in the model — The Numbers
39%

Improvement in self-reported anxiety/stress scores over 60 days.

GEM Pilot, 2025 · observational · N=20
52%

Improvement in self-reported fatigue scores over the same period.

GEM Pilot, 2025 · observational · N=20

Methods: anxiety/stress measured with the GAD-7 self-report scale (39% improvement, p=0.007); the pilot also recorded a change in mitochondrial membrane potential (p=0.020). Percentages approximate; the manuscript reports absolute score changes and effect sizes. The study authors themselves stress: pilot, no control, no causal claim.

Self-reported wellbeing measures — anxiety, fatigue, energy and mood — not disease diagnoses or endpoints. Directional early evidence (Tier 2), to be confirmed by controlled study.

Tier 03 · The data asset

The evidence that compounds — and that a competitor can't buy.

Behind the studies sits the asset that makes the science operational: over one million bioenergetic scans gathered across 26 years. This is the training data for FIELD, the AI platform at the centre of the ecosystem. The core pulse-encoding technology behind it is protected by a granted UK patent (2024), with a corresponding US patent application filed in 2022.

A large internal cohort — roughly 6,000 people with two or more visits — shows statistically significant self-reported improvement in energy/fatigue, sleep, and stress, largest where people started lowest. It is uncontrolled internal data, so we treat it as a signal and a moat, not as a clinical claim — but it is the biggest-N evidence in the file, and every new user deepens it.

~6,000

People with 2+ visits in the internal wellness-score cohort (~3,000 with 3+; ~1,800 with 4+).

Internal, uncontrolled data (Tier 3 for evidence weight; primary value is as a proprietary data moat). Self-reported wellbeing measures only. Not a controlled study and not a clinical claim.

The research pipeline

What the raise funds next.

Part of the use of funds is turning early signal into controlled evidence. Only items canon supports are shown; timing and study design are being finalised with the university partners.

Controlled GEM study

The honest next step for Tier 2: a properly controlled study of the GEM, to move the pilot's directional signal toward causal evidence. Named in the funded R&D plan.

Protocol and timeline are being finalised with the university partners.

Continued UCSD program

The published university research program at UC San Diego — the route that produced the EXPLORE paper — with E4L scientific advisor Prof. Hemal Patel advising on the science.

Next papers and scope are set with the UCSD team.

Publishing the human data

Turning the GEM pilot and the large internal wellness cohort into peer-reviewed publications, with the controlled follow-up designed to carry the self-reported signal toward causal evidence.

Publication scope is being scoped with the research partners.

The pipeline is what canon confirms today. This section is illustrative of intent, not a promise of specific results or timing; controlled studies are planned but not yet complete.

Why this de-risks the thesis

Evidence you can point to, plus a moat you can't copy.

Bioenergetics carries a credibility risk. Two things blunt it. First, the science does not rest on testimony: there is a published, peer-reviewed, blinded cell study — cells that cannot respond to belief — with human and cellular work pointing the same way, and every figure labelled for what its design supports. Second, the 26-year, 1M+ scan data set is a genuine barrier to entry: it trains FIELD, it compounds with every user, and a competitor would need decades and a comparable install base to reproduce it.

The result: a category story an investor can defend on the evidence, and an asset that gets stronger — and harder to catch — the longer it runs. The honest gaps (controlled human studies) are exactly what part of the raise funds next.

A clean regulatory track record adds to it. Across 20+ years of commercial history, the acquired products have passed three FDA inspections with no issues — including an in-person infoceuticals inspection and repeated, stricter customs/FDA import reviews. The miHealth handheld is in the final stages of FDA over-the-counter clearance for pain relief — a real milestone in progress — while BWS has never been questioned (its claims are deliberately clean and non-medical) and the GEM sits in a performance/wellness classification. The products make structure/function and wellbeing claims only; regulatory exposure is minimal.
